I thought I needed a course to start a business?

Definitely not. Starting a business is about taking the things you love; your passions, your hobbies, you dreams, and then figuring out how to make money from them. Imagine waking up everyday doing what you love and making money, can it get any better? Youth Ventures is hear to support you in the areas where you might need more support, such as keeping records, promoting your business, doing the right research so you start off on the right foot and have a greater chance to succeed.

Is Youth Ventures free to join?

Yes! Youth Ventures is a FREE program available to students between the ages of 12-29. There are no costs for our services.

Where is Youth Ventures Available?

How do I get involved?

It’s easy! All you need to do is pick up the phone, email, or visit your local coordinator and they’ll help you get started in the program.

How much time do I have to commit?

As a participant in the program you can commit to as much or as little time as you want. It’s your business, so you’re success is directly related to your commitment to it. Our coordinators are there to guide you through any trouble you have, provide support, and give you tools to develop your business. Each participant is responsible for the business they develop and the day to day activities of it.

Do you provide loans or grants?

Youth Ventures, as of yet, does not provide any loans of grants to participants. However, being a participant of the program the coordinators can help you develop a business plan which can be used to obtain funding from a participating CBDC, local financial institution, or other funding sources.

What are the benefits of Youth Ventures?

As a Participant of the Youth Ventures program there a lot of benefits you’ll receive. For starters, you’ll have one on one time with a Site Coordinator who is there to help YOU. The Site Coordinator can help you develop a business idea, guide you in preparing a business plan, and help you grow your business. As a participant in the program you’ll have access to free flyers, business cards, summer events, and amazing networking opportunities with other participants as well as with community leaders. Another benefit is that by operating your own business, you get to set your own hours, develop your ideas, and ultimately be your own boss! Am I too young to start a business?

You’re never too young to start a business as long as you have a passion for what you want to do. We’ve had students as young as 7 participate in Youth Ventures and be very successful in achieving their goals.

I don’t have a business idea, can I still get involved?

Absolutely, our coordinators can help you from the ground up to develop an idea out of what you already enjoy doing. Like to shop? Be a personal shopper! Like local history? Give local tours around your area! Enjoy drawing? Sell your sketches! Enjoy writing? Write a book! If you want to start a business, there’s an idea out there for you and our coordinators will help you find the perfect fit.

I want to run my business year round, but the program is only during the summer?

Not a problem, we have many participants that operate businesses year round. The Provincial Coordinator can help you throughout the year if you have any questions about your business and help you as you need it. Youth Ventures is also partnered with many organizations across Newfoundland and Labrador who can help you with anything you need throughout the year.
